Came across as genuine to me. Greek Police aren't exactly known for their integrity

Just listening to his interview with Dan Roan Bizarre story of him being in a minibus , not knowing they were taken to a police station. Some plainclothes men are harassing the women with him. So he runs away & leaves them to it A TISSUE OF LIES

If some cunt tried to inject my sister/daughter with some date rape drug I'd have more than confronted the fucker. He'd have a bottle in his face.
Trying to bribe a copper was a fucking stupid thing to do though. If I were him I'd take the sentence, apologise and move on.

Re: Harry Maguire arrested in Mykonos

Isnt he also taking a punt with the appeal?
Not sure how it works in Greece (or the UK), but in Australia, an appeal cuts both ways, if your found not guilty on appeal, then fine, but if the original charges are upheld, then the judge(s) can impose a sentance, becouse you had a suspended doesnt mean that automaticly is the outcome!! you could get a custodial or a harsher sentance, it isnt without risk to appeal..........

Re: Harry Maguire arrested in Mykonos

If he loses the appeal I presume the suspended sentence will be confirmed There wouldn’t be a problem with him going to Greece unless he does something else that triggers that suspended sentence being turned into a custodial one. Or is there a possibility that more evidence could be entered during the appeal that makes his offence more serious? So that he ends up sharing a cell with a large sweaty ,hairy man called Stavros who likes to cuddle

Found guilty Has been granted an appeal against that verdict Which currently is still in place
Shouldn’t be picked for England till the appeal is held. If on appeal the story he told Southgate is confirmed as a PACK OF LIES he can’t be selected again

Re: Harry Maguire arrested in Mykonos

I think many people expect him to get off on appeal - money, status, Man Utd funded lawyers... - but if not, does anyone know how this works? It's not as if Greece is some tinpot country a million miles away - I would assume unless corrected otherwise that back when we were in the EU this information would have been officially shared with the UK in some form, but what about now - does it go on his record here and potentially influence any future sentencing for any other incidents? Presumably so far as the suspended part he is fine as long as he doesn't go to Greece again, although I'd expect the local authorities would be all over him if he did from the moment he landed in an attempt to catch him out or goad him into doing anything else. Could be interesting if they draw AEK or Olympiacos etc in Europe any time soon - perhaps we could have another Mikhitaryan situation where club and player decide it's safest not to travel (albeit for very different reasons).

No - that's not how it works.
He has been found guilty and he has been sentenced. A verdict was reached and then the sentence was suspended.
His current legal status is guilty. He has appealed that verdict. That appeal will take the form of a re-trial.
Think about it - you'd be stupid to appeal a current situation in which you were not guilty.
Jeez - I would not want to be in a criminal enterprise with you lot! ;-)
All that said, the Greek legal system is astoudingly bad. Some of the prosecution documents and evidence was served the day before the judge's guilty verdict - hardly giving Maguire et al time to prepare a proper defence. It's no wonder he appealed.

Appeal upheld for retrial so currently not guilty.
What does Gareth do next?
Could be up to 2 years for retrial btw. A bit of a farce..

Fair enough. Sounds a bit like a kangaroo court though. Were there any witnesses outside of the police that heard him attempt to bribe?
Not defending the prick. As someone else said its what happens when footballers get on the piss abroad in pre-season. Geezers an idiot.
